Louis Napoleon, King of Holland, declared Amsterdam the capital of the Netherlands in 1806. Well intended, he was determined to master Dutch, which led to one of his most famous sayings: 'Iek bien konijn van Olland'. He meant: 'I am king of Holland', but freely translated from Dutch he actually said 'I am the rabbit of Holland'.
