Amsterdam is famous and infamous for its painters. One of the most famous, of course, is Rembrandt van Rijn with The Night Watch, which hangs in the Rijksmuseum. The original canvas was larger and was shortened on all four sides around 1715 to make it fit for another room. Among other things, the depiction of two school shooters disappeared. Tradition has it that it was not a difficult knot to cut.
